M. M. KUCHERENKO. SOME PROBLEMS OF LABOUR RESERVES IN THE USSR IN THE 1970S.
An analysis of labour reserves in the 1970s and early 1980s, objective and subjective causes of the strained balance of the live labour, sources and forms of replenishment of labour force. The attention is centred around the rational use of the available work force in the conditions of the scientific and technological revolution, the acceleration of the increase of labour productivity, technical re-equipment of enterprises. Solution to the labour reserves problem lies, according to the author, in the further improvement and expansion of the vocational training system, strengthening labour discipline, decreasing labour fluctuation, and scientific organisation of laoour.
V. N. LUNGU. Royal Rumania's Occupational Regime in Bessarabia.
The author analyses the events connected with the establishment of Rumanian occupational regime in Soviet Bessarabia, and writes that its nature was quite evident already during its first period. Numerous facts about economic plunder, terror, forced Rumanisation and ideological brain-wash of the Bessarabian population are cited in the article against a broad background of the occupationists' counter-revolutionary activity, the restoration of the power of landlords and bourgeoisie, crimes of the military, the gendarmery and the sigurantsa.
E. I. CHAPKEVICH. Revolutionary Ties between Russia and China on the Eve and during the 1911 - 1913 Revolution.
The Bolsheviks' assessment of the character, motive forces and perspectives of the 1911 - 1913 revolution in China are analysed. Much space is devoted to the activity of the Bolshevik Party in mobilising Russia's public opinion in support of the revolution. Drawing on large factual material, on the already known and new historical sources the author refutes bourgeois allegations about the absence of revolutionary ties between the Russian and Chinese peoples and a hostile position taken by the former towards the Chinese national-liberation movement.
N. I. BUKHARIN, I. S. YAZHBOROVSKAYA. Revolutionary- Internationalist Traditions of the Polish Labour Movement.
Adherence to Marxism in the struggle against bourgeois ideology and petty-bourgeois socialism, reformism and revisionism; proletarian internationalism; close ties with the international labour movement; revolutionary union of the Russian and Polish proletariat - such are the main traditions of the revolutionary-internationalist forces of the Polish labour movement. Polish revolutionary parties of the working class were always guided by the basic interests of the Polish working people and drew on the revolutionary struggle of the masses. These glorious traditions are the source of ideological strengthening of the Polish United Workers' Party and of the cause of socialism in Poland.
V. D. NERONOVA. Soviet Historiography on the Estate and the Class of Slaves.
Latest Soviet studies demonstrate that, first, characteristic features of the class of slaves in the ancient Oriental and antique societies were part of the social make-up not only of the estate of slaves but also of many direct producers of different social affiliation who were mainly connected with the state sector while the majority of slaves in the proper sense of the word were privately owned; secondly, that the estate of slaves was heteroge-. nous: though it consisted mainly of slaves, it included representatives of other classes not excluding the slaveowners. Therefore, a strict distinction should be made between the "estate of slaves" and the "class of slaves" as two objectively existing and never fully identical social categories.
